FORTH TO FARNE WAY
COMPLETE THE PILGRIMAGE
Celebrating the historic and spiritual ties between St Andrews, Lindisfarne and Durham, the Forth to Farne Way follows an old pilgrimage route, its northern origins starting in St Andrews in Fife.
We begin on the south side of the Forth in North Berwick, a 70 mile (112 km) route to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.
The Way is divided into 11 stages and offers opportunities of spiritual, natural and cultural significance. Local circular walks are also possible. The initial stages are inland, taking in the glories of the East Lothian countryside, and then mainly coastal walking from Dunbar south to Lindisfarne.
Take time to marvel at the fauna and flora such as the primroses when in season and the thousands of nesting seabirds on the cliffs at St Abb’s headland.
Enjoy walking on paths alongside spectacular beaches, fields and clifftops, through ancient and interesting coastal communities – to reach the final stage, walking across the causeway to Lindisfarne in the footsteps of pilgrims past.
We hope that walking the Forth to Farne Way will bring a sense of belonging and achievement, enjoyment in being at one with nature, and allow time for reflecting on Life’s journey.
Good luck, and happy walking.
